Hamleys of London is located on Regent Street just down the road from Oxford St station, quite close to the Soho district and the London Lomography store. This year it celebrated it’s 250th year of operation and I was there at one of the busiest times of the year, Christmas.
This legendary toy store covers over 54000 square feet and has five levels as well as a ground floor and basement containing such a diverse amount of toys that it needs to be seen, including Boys, Hobbies, Girls, Preschool, Games, Soft toys, and Interactive.
I spent my time on the ground level on this visit to Hamleys. Just killing some time waiting for a film to be developed, I didn’t want to fight the crowds in attempting the escalators. To be honest, this floor is my favorite anyway, all the different stuffed toys were just waiting to be cuddled.
Just like FAO Schwartz in New York City, Hamleys of London is a tourist attraction and although they do not have the ‘big’ piano to play on, the window displays, and different decorations hanging from the ceilings of each floor are more than worth the look.
A must-see place for all big kids young and old!
