The ferry service is a popular as ever as it is the most convenient way to reach the beautiful sandy beaches of Studland, it also is the quickest way to reach Swanage without having to take a 25 mile detour around Poole Harbour. There are very strong tidal streams that rush through the straight between Sandbanks and Shell Bay and together with the high volume of sailing boats that dart in front and behind the ferry as it crosses, makes it a very exciting, albeit, short trip.
