The holiday shopping season is upon us again! Although Singapore is a tropical country and there’s no snow, one can still feel the Yuletide atmosphere everywhere. The glitzy ION Orchard, which boasts of 66,000 sq meters of shopping, has one of the best Christmas decorations on Orchard Road.
Once you are around the junction of Orchard and Scotts Road, you can’t miss the towering White Christmas Tree of ION Orchard. It is about 4-5 floors tall and is probably the only Christmas Tree on Orchard Road whereby one can walk inside. This year the Christmas Tree has a white, snowy coat and reflective snowflake decorations. Inside the Christmas Tree, one’s senses is subjected to a stunning visual treat of blue light tubes and hanging crystal balls.
In front of the mall, there are other lighted decorations of musical instruments such as saxophone, drums, violin etc. This is in conjunction with the mall’s positioning of being committed to the cultural and arts scene of Singapore.
It is probably too late for you to come to Singapore and admire ION’s Christmas decor now. But fret not, the Christmas Tree was just “recycled” from the 2009 Christmas Tree with a slight change in decorations. Therefore, you should be able to see it if you do come to Singapore in Dec 2011!
