Ride the Waves at Henderson!

Henderson Waves is a pedestrian bridge that connects Mount Faber Park and Telok Blangah Hill Park. Although its full length is only 274-metres, it is the highest pedestrian bridge in Singapore, situated 36 metres above Henderson Road.

Henderson Waves is a bridge along the Southern Ridges trail, which is a 9-kilometre trail that connects parks along the southern ridge of Singapore. Henderson Waves got its name because the entire bridge structure is made up of a series of undulating rib-like structure. Along the length of the bridge, there are seven such rib cage structures. These structures also act as shelters and a resting place for visitors. To give the structure a tropical look, the decking of the bridge is made of yellow balau wood, an all-weather timber found in Southeast Asia.

As Singapore’s highest pedestrian bridge, one is assured of a good and scenic view. When one stands on the Henderson Waves, one can see the busy Singapore seaport and the HDB (public housing) apartments. Henderson Waves is very popular with joggers, families, and couples who congregate here during the weekend for their weekly outings.

In the night, the bridge takes on a different look as it is lit by a series of LED lamps from 7pm to 2am daily. Another feature of the bridge is that it has markings that tells one which height he or she is at. If you are a nature-loving person, you definitely have to visit Henderson Waves and the nearby parks of the Southern Ridges.
