Goffertpark is an outdoor concert venue located in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. You can also find the NEC Nijmegen stadium here. It is sixty acres of woodland and heathland that was transformed into a spacious park which now includes a sports field, stadium, tea house, and even a zoo.
Goffertpark is the best place to visit when you’re in Nijmegen. During the summer, this is the ideal place to enjoy a beautiful day – you can enjoy having a picnic, play football, jog, skate, visit the little zoo, spend a lazy afternoon on the field, walk around in the forest, take an air balloon ride or just enjoy the sun.
Because of its size, Goffertpark is also a good location for outdoor concerts, in fact, many artists have already performed here including AC/DC, Aerosmith, Black Sabbath, Bon Jovi, Coldplay, Deftones, Guns N’ Roses, Kings of Leon, Metallica, Muse, Pearl Jam, R.E.M., Radiohead, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Rolling Stones, U2 and Van Halen. If you’re too stingy to buy a ticket, you can also hang around behind the borders and just listen to the music. Whenever there is a concert and the weather is great, all the young (and old) people tend to gather around and start looking for a cozy spot where they can enjoy food and drinks while listening to the music.
For me, Goffertpark is such a wonderful place to relax and enjoy nature. It’s actually also nice to go there even during winter. Even if it is located in the middle of Nijmegen, it still gives you the feeling of being somewhere far away.
