Newquay and the Beach!

1

On a recent family holiday I went to Cornwall, I stayed in a static caravan in Treyarnon bay, which is 10 minutes outside of Padstow. One day me and my friend Ian (whom I was staying with) met up with some other college friends who were also holidaying in Cornwall for a trip around Newquay and some body boarding at Fistral Beach.

Fistral Beach is the best surfing spot I have ever been to, its sign even says that it’s “the international surfing center.” To go along with the great surfing it has great facilities too, a surfer friendly cafe and if you forget your stuff a very reasonable hire shop, with anything that you could so with at the beach.

In Newquay itself there are a plethora of shops, from the weird and the wacky to the just plain and boring generic tourist shops (also a mighty subways :D) One thing worth checking out are the Tuk Tuk vehicles taking you from the beach to the town center in a matter of minutes.

Fistral beach is definitely worth a visit if you enjoy your surfing, kicking back on the beach and other water sports. But Newquay town isn’t so pleasant itself especially after a Saturday when everyone’s barf is on the pavement.

Interesting article, but I think it undersells the town of Newquay itself. During the summer months it does exist as one of the country's most well known clubbing destinations, so there is always a huge party vibe and which, although not to to everyone's taste, is pretty good fun.

Go in the winter and its a completely different place! Empty beaches, better surf, fishing boats, historic harbour, traditional rowing, marine life, a strong sense of youth culture in the town! Look a bit further afield, as with any town, and then you'll see what it really has to offer :)
