We’re rounding out Chrisdafox’s LomoPeople series with this portrait of Cay, one of his newest, albeit stunning acquaintances. Want to know how he got introduced to her? Read on for Chris’ story and a better look at the portrait after the jump.
On the last week of Kaity in Manila before departing for London, she along with Knox and two other friends visited me down south of the Metro where I live. The masterplan was for me to cook lunch (which was pretty badass, according to them at least) and for us to go out and shoot Knox.
Now, i dont really often shoot with other people around. I like to keep it really simple, just between me and the model, so that we can find some sort of “connection” which allows me to draw out more from every photograph (10 points for me, for creative process depth and intellectual stuff like that).
But this time around, I was working with professionals. 4 cute girls who work at a real advertising agency, who do real shoots, and get paid to do it. so for a short period of time, I felt nothing more like a meal ticket to them, because they are so damn intense with work and their attention to detail. Even if this was supposed to be for fun. Yes, they were that scary and intimidating.
Now, this is Cay, and i just met her that day.
No, She isn’t angry or upset. In fact she was armed with quick with and a good sense of humor. A little too easy to frighten, but she was actually cool as a cucumber the whole afternoon. So i as i was taking snapshots and outtakes of their little shoot, this photograph stood out.
She wasnt acting.
She was just standing there.
And when I called her, she turned and i took the shot.
Its the first time, that ive taken a portrait with this look, and I’m damn glad that even if its an outtake. Her look is just so damn intense, its pretty amazing. I may have found another muse that i may exploit (in a good and creative way that will not send me to jail of course).
So perhaps, she’ll oblige me with that opportunity. We’ll just have to wait and see.
