LomoPeople: Ymmij and Cyanwater

2011-06-05 9

They painted my life with the colors of Lomography. They inspired me to take good pictures. They filled my life with laughter. They are my inspiration!!!

Ymmij & Cyanwater, Location: Singapore, Founders of Lomotionsg

In the year 2007, when I got my first Lomography camera, the Fisheye No. 2, I had no idea how to use it nor who to ask for help.

After the third roll of film I almost decided to drop the idea of shooting analogue…

Till I found Lomotionsg!

They welcomed and guided me!

I really respect the effort they put into bringing everyone together as one community, their time, their money. They’ve spent all these years building the LOVE we now all share for analogue photography.

To date, we’ve spent countless triggers, countless rolls of film, countless joy. And for the years to come, we will continue to live the colorful life of Lomography.

Analogue will be our future!!!

Thank you to you both!

    Janne Parviainen: Light Magician

Janne Parviainen is a 35-year-old artist from Helsinki, Finland. He is both a painter and a photographer but sometimes, he swaps his painting tools for light and creates illuminated pieces of art. Abandoned places are his favorite places for shoots because, according to him, "there's so much lived life and stories in abandoned places, they are the lost diaries and photos turned to dust of lives that once bloomed."

The Photography of Réka Koti: Lo-Fi Blurs and Foggy Moods

Photo travelogues are often sprightly, the forms defined and the colors sharp. Réka Koti has a completely different interpretation. A location is a basis for experiments. Nature is a double-exposure detail or a nebular extension of her model’s frock. Branches and leaves are blurred to look like paint strokes. The outcome is mysterious, and Lomography can’t help asking: What is the alchemy behind these dusky pictures?

A Hunt for Curios and Wonderful Patterns

Some photographers have an instinct for the unique. Whereas others aim to fashion the ordinary into a singular picture, these hunters are obsessed with what cannot be found elsewhere. They prize an exclusive scoop on architectural patterns, artisan quirks, and objects that stick out of an everyday scene. And when the photographers find them, they will twist and turn to get the most flattering angle. Only right for curiosities that beg to be shared.
