She is the Queen

The Diana is my first Lomography camera… I got it on the day of my 26th birthday. My girlfriend bought it as a gift for me… Not the normal Diana F+ but the CMYK clone. The seller told her that maybe for a boy these colors weren’t the best choice… But hey I ain’t a normal guy!

I love colors! Owning a Lomo camera was always a dream of mine and I’ve always hesitated on actually purchasing one… I immediately (like an hour after… ) went to a camera shop to buy some rolls… Kodak B&W 400ISO.

I was so impatient to see how great or shitty the results might be… And in fact only 5 pictures were OK… But that vignetting was marvelous… That soft focus… I tried pinhole with my second roll… And made a 30minutes pinhole picture… And this was the softest focus I ever dreamt about!

It’s so easy to use… Point adjust two parameters (focus and aperture) and you shoot! If you want a longer exposition just set it to B and it could last forever! The aperture is set with little pictograms(sun, cloud, P)… Even a child could use it… That is what my little brother did :D He tried it sometimes! and that was some kind of art…

The hardest part for me with the Diana F+ maybe was loading the roll … kind of tricky at first… but then i got the hang of it perfectly :D One other problem I had was that the roll wasn’t tight enough and I had too many light leaks when I unloaded it… I put a small piece of rubber to tighten the roll! And it worked pretty well… maybe a tipster later who knows:D

I’m pretty happy to live with my ‘Lady Di’ and it’s for the moment my favorite Lomo camera.

    I got my first Diana only couple weeks ago. She is the Queen, but she also has a worst viewfinder in the world :) You cant trust him :) I shot already two rolls with this cam and it looks like i have made some perfect pictures for "Your worst shot" competition :) i hope i will figure out that strange viewfinder work.

    I love my Diana, I've got the Edelweiss one which looks so pure. However I keep on having a problem: all my black&white shots are great, and usually the whole roll works. But when it comes to colour films, I just can't seem to choose the right setting and I get only half of less of the roll that ends up okay... I guess I need to practice more and more and more and more... and more and more... haha

    @wuxiong thanks a lot:) @trashpilotin It was a gift but a well choosen one:D
    @dogma I understand your frustration.. I try to look in the viewfinder then I go a little up for the picture...
    @sweetyyydreams I try to set it mostly on cloudly and N and don't forget to set the distance:D If it's sunny I go to sunny if I use a 400ISO ... It depends... I use it with my feelings...:)
    @kylewis practice again and again... If you can do nice pictures with "the worst camera ever" as a photo mag said... You can do good pictures with everything:P
    @naomac It will come I promise, when I'll find the time:)

    Waiting for my first roll to be developed! I'm looking forward to it! Anyway, never listen to stupid sellers who are too "square-minded" ;-)
