After buying my close-up lens for my LC-A+, i was a bit disappointed because it would not fit in my Ringflash. I found this odd seeing as the phrase “Get as close as possible” is written directly on the Ringflash. I figured that it would be cool to “get as close as possible” and still have clear focused photos. So I did a bit of remodeling.
Ok so first of all, materials. You’ll need to get: a Ringflash, a close-up lens (just look for it on ebay, it’s about $20), a rotary drill, masking tape/pencil, safety glasses (snow goggles w/a camera if you’re filming), clamps are helpful but not necessary.
-Second, disassemble the Ringflash and take some masking tape and tape over the hole in the middle of the adapter. Try to place the lens in the middle, hold it down, and trace around the edge to be sure that you know how far to cut out.
-Next go and find a workbench type of table and clap the adapter to a flat surface. Make sure to wear your safety glasses, that plastic flies everywhere and it hurts in your eyes:
-LUCKY for you I made a video of me cutting mine, so follow this link and see what I did
Ok so after that I went over it a few more times to make it cleaner, but the tape outline REALLY helped because without it you would have no idea of how far to go. Pretty easy mod if you have access to the required equipment.
- I will take some photos with the mod in place and post them in the comments as soon as I can, so be sure to check back for them. Thank you for checking out my FIRST Tipster, your comments are greatly appreciated. Enjoy it 8)
