This camera was given by my father a few years ago when I just started digital photography. Like every camera I gave him a name… Jimmy cause of the atom design on the camera… It has a 50mm 1.7 and a pretty awesome look!

This camera was given by my father a few years ago when I just started digital photography. It took the dust like 2 years since I discovered analog photography. Like every camera I gave him a name… Jimmy cause of the atom design on the camera… Made me think to Jimmy Neutron, some cartoon we have on tv.

My first time with it was a little bit unsure, was the exposition right? was the aperture ok? The stress of the first totally manual film… I finished the film like two months after. And I was so excited about the result. But was so stressed for the result! And the result was… better than my expectations!

For my first film with it, I was mostly between 1.7 and 5.6. And like 1/60s to 1/250. Oh by the way, the lens is a 50mm 1.7.. Unusual for me after seeing mostly 1.8 lens. The camera is easy to use and as heavy as my DSLR. But most charming.

It’s a normal 35mm camera with a place for some batteries but I took pictures without batteries, all manual and old school way. And I am pretty happy with the result without a light measuring system.

It’s one of the gift I’ll never forget. It launches me to analog photography. It’s a good looking camera and dandy of the modern photography.

    Beautiful shots, it's funny to see the digital crowd pay big bucks to get the perfect photoshop action to get exactly what you just shot. :)

    there is a picture in the first lot that isn't mine... Yashica doesn't expose the sprockets...

    Great review. I own a Electro GSN and a 35-ME and both produces superb and sharp photos. Yashica rocks!!!

    I've just cleaned up an old Yashica TL Electro, new light seals etc....looking forward to shooting my first spool. HAve you tried double exposures...if so how do you do it on this little monkey?

    i bought this camera in 1972 in the bx. ny. i was 18. before had a hand me down rangefinder/robbins which broke. began processing my own b&w same year. shot many rolls through it. bought lenses, 35mm and 135mm. it was a yashica collaboration with another company, which i cannot find. had chrome lens barrels. really nice. camera carried me right to school of visual arts in 77. lasted about a month. was out shooting in central park and the focal plane shutter died. served me well. thru many events and memories. many rolls of film which unfortunately were thrown out. this was yashica's answer to the spotmatic i think. i recall the pentax ads at the time in magazines the lenses super coated, looked purple and so began my obsession with 35mm cameras.
