Beijing Roast Duck is a famous dish from Beijing which is now considered one of China’s national foods.
Have you ever tried this menu?
“There are two things you must do in Beijing: eat Beijing Roast Duck and see the Great Wall.” I often heard people say these words, and I think it’s true. Tasting Beijing Roast Duck is a key part of any Beijing Tour. So I decided to take some pictures of a famous Beijing roast duck with my Olympus Trip 35.
I went to Houhai Lake to search for a restaurant Quanjude Peking Duck, which is a well known restaurant that specializes in Beijing Roast Duck. And of course when I reached the restaurant, I ordered Beijing Roast Duck without looking at menu.
The manner of serving and eating Beijing Roast Duck is also unique. The chef presents you the whole duck, which is then carved in front of the diners and served in 2 parts. First, the soft skin is served dipped in sugar and garlic sauce. Then the crispy skin and meat are served with steamed pancakes, scallions and sweet bean sauce.
The way to eat Beijing Roast Duck is as follows: take a piece of the pancake in one hand, then put three or four slices of the duck onto the pancake with each of the above mentioned vegetables and seasonings. Finally roll up the pancake and eat it.
I think the roast duck in this restaurant is really delicious! It is charred on the outside and tender on the inside. All I can say is “Beijing Roast duck is to die for”!!!!
