This is the story of my first meeting with my Minx, she’s a white Fisheye. It began almost six years ago when I found out cameras named Lomography exist from a TV program. The program talked about the Indonesian Lomography Community, Lomonesia. I remember I was so attracted by those cameras and especially the motto “Don’t think just shoot”.
Even though I’ve known Lomography cameras for years, I got my first Lomo in December as a birthday gift from my ex boyfriend. It’s a white Fisheye One. I called it Minx and I decided that it is a “she” haha and she’s with me everywhere I go.
If you are thinking, what took me so long to get a Lomo? It is because I can’t afford to buy one. Seriously, what do you expect from a mid-class full-time student? I asked my dad to buy me one once but he asked me back “what is that? is it a real camera for sure? not just a toy?” blablabla. So when my ex gave me a Fisheye, I was so shocked and happy at the same time. I always craved for a Diana F+ but then I found out that the Fisheye can also be fun!
My first roll was Fujifilm Superia ISO 200, it took only a day for me to get 36 pictures. Now I’ve come into my 5th roll. I’ve dared myself to use black&white and expired films and I’m so glad to see how Minx sees the world through her fisheye.
I might be a newbie. I don’t think much when I’m about to take pictures. I try to capture best shots. More films and adventures are heading our way but I’m pretty sure Minx and I are ready.
