Colorful and Playful: Takoyaki Shoots the LomoChrome Classicolor ISO 200
1 16Tako, the photographer behind Takoyaki Photo, loaded our newest film, LomoChrome Classicolor 35 mm ISO 200 and spent a day shooting at Lumpini Park in Bangkok. He came back with photos full of energy, color, and playfulness. Take a look at these vivid frames that capture the fun and joy of the day!
Tako, could you tell us a little about yourself and what usually inspires you to pick up a camera?
Hello, my name is Tako. I'm a professional photographer. My page is Takoyaki Photo. I've been shooting with film for over ten years. I practically make a living using film. Haha! I'm fascinated by the colors and charm of film. It's so much fun to try out new films that I've never used before.
Tell us about the day you spent with LomoChrome Classicolor ISO 200. Where did you take it, and what subjects caught your eye?
My model and I had been thinking about this concept for a while. We wanted playful colors and unusual poses. When we got this film, we knew it was exactly what we needed. It fit the concept perfectly. We went through lots samples, came up with outfit ideas, and scouted locations until we finally settled on this concept.
On the day of the shoot, we woke up early to pick flowers at Pak Khlong Talat. After getting everything ready, we headed to our location, the playground at Lumpini Park. On the way, it looked like it might rain, but when we arrived, the sun suddenly came out and it got really hot.
We walked around with our props, brightly colored flowers, sticking them on our bodies and holding them up to cover our faces. I want to thank the model for matching the outfits, which made the shot look cool and fun. Though, towards the end, we were a bit rushed worrying the rain would come, the photos still turned out beautiful. It was such a fun day of shooting, we even rode the slides, haha.
What were your first impressions when you saw the results? How would you describe the mood this film carries?
I like the graininess of the image. The colors are vibrant and fresh. They shine even more when exposed to sunlight. It's a beautiful yellow. The skin tones are stunning.
Looking more closely, what struck you about the way it renders – the colors, the contrast, or the grain?
Personally, I like the color and the grain. It's a charming color, gives a warm and fun feeling, and gives a bit of a summery feel.
Was there photos from this shoot that stood out to you, and what makes it special?
Actually, I like all the pictures, but my favorite might be the one with the flower stuck in the sock. The colors are super cute, and the one where the model is doing a somersault on a water hydrant by the roadside. The model is really dedicated, haha.
When did this film really come alive? Were there particular moods, times of day, or kinds of light where you feel it shines most?
I think it's all good, whether it's sunny or not, or any time of day, it will come out beautiful. But I think if you encounter morning or evening sunlight before the sun sets and try shooting against the light, it will be gorgeous.
If this photo series had a soundtrack, which song would you choose to capture its spirit?
My Girl by The Temptations. When I filmed it, it instantly reminded me of the first line of the song, "I've got sunshine on a cloudy day."
What kinds of situations or projects do you imagine yourself reaching for this film again?
I'll definitely use it again, and I hope it's produced and sold for a long time. It can be used for taking photos of travel, for fun, or for work because the mood is very good. You can use it in any situation, especially those happy and fun moments.
What tips would you share with fellow photographers who are excited to try LomoChrome Classicolor for the first time?
You've just got to try it. Give it a shot! I think this one is definitely going to be a hit. On a sunny day, grab this one. You won't be disappointed.
Thank you Tako for bringing the LomoChrome Classicolor ISO 200 to life with so much color and joy!
