This album is a collection of photos I took during a spontaneous family trip to Acapulco. Since it’s the closest beach to my city, we visit it often. We stayed at the Hotel Princess Mundo Imperial and visited the nearby beaches as well as Barra Vieja, where we always go to a family favorite restaurant called Cira La Morena 2. They serve a huachinango a la talla that is the best I’ve ever had anywhere.
As for activities, we mainly focused on enjoying ourselves in different ways. Personally, I like to relax at the hotel spa, while my family prefers spending time together over food and drinks. We also did some swimming, ATV rides, and casual walks around the area.
What struck me the most was seeing Acapulco after the hurricane. It was my first time visiting since it was devastated a few years ago, and you can still clearly see the destruction it left behind. I tried to emphasize this contrast in some of my photos, showing the difference between the buildings that have been repaired and those that were simply abandoned.
There’s definitely been a noticeable difference in the number of visitors and the activities available compared to before the hurricane. Many businesses unfortunately never recovered. In fact, one of the reasons why my family and I chose to go back was to support the local economy, knowing how hard it has been for the people of Acapulco.
My favorite photo from this trip would be this one. I think it perfectly represents the contrast between what has been restored and what has been left behind.
As for tips, Kodak Gold is your best ally at the beach. It works beautifully with the warm tones of sunrises and sunsets. My advice would be to take your camera everywhere, but also don’t forget to enjoy the moment instead of just chasing the perfect shot.
