2 10 Share TweetSatria Ramadhan is a band manager, booking agent, record store owner and co-founder of a music showcase. He is also a long time member of our community. Despite his very busy schedule, we recently got the chance to talk with Satria about his love of analogue photography, and sent him a couple of rolls of film to use with his trusty Lomo LC-A+ while on tour!
Hi, Satria! It’s great to have you here at Lomography! Please tell us about yourself and what you do.
Hey Folks! I’m Satria Ramadhan, I’m a band manager, booking agent, record store owner and co-founder of a music showcase called AXEAN Festival. Mostly my interests are in music.
How did you first discover the world of Lomography?
It was a long time ago, in 2006 my friend Dimas Ario introduced me with the Colorsplash, one of the Lomography cameras. I borrowed his camera and start exploring the joy of Lomography.
I was a photographer and mainly photographed stage performances at gigs and concerts, using my uncle’s analogue camera (Nikon F501). And I became the official photographer for the indie pop band Ballads of the Cliche, that was my entry into the music industry.
What's your favorite thing about analogue photography?
My favorite thing is the unpredictable moments, and when I succeed in capturing those moments with the best result.
How do you normally spend your week?
Recently, I've been spending my time exploring music showcases in the region, attending festivals and so on. By attending these events, I have made new networks and its useful for my work. But I also like to spend my time with my daughters when I’m free.
Can you please tell us about #SRMOnDuty?
#SRMonDuty is more like a tour to some festivals, doing promotion and sharing knowledge. This is the second time I've done this #SRMonDuty trip after last year. This time I visited four festivals in South Korea and France: Zandari Festa (Seoul, South Korea), Busan Rock Festival (Busan, South Korea), Gyeonggi Indie Music Festival (Paju, South Korea) and MaMA Music Convention (Paris, France). The main mission is to introduce the Indonesian music scene, promote my artists (SRM roster) and explain the AXEAN Festival.
You recently shot with the Lomography Color Negative ISO 400 film ? What do you think about the results?
I think it's good for low light situations. I like the results, especially the colors.
Do you have a favorite photo taken with this film?
I like this photo (at the gate of Gyeongbokgung Palace, Seoul) because its so natural and the light was perfect.
What do you think is the perfect situation for shooting this film?
I think its better to use around noon and golden hour.
And what do you like most about the Lady Grey ISO 400 film ?
This film has its own character, the black is not so black and the noise is not so strong.
What is one thing you have been dying to explore further (anything from a place to a particular subject)? What is your dream project?
My plan, which has not yet been realized, is to use one film twice in two different cities (double exposures.) Also to do a collaboration with other Lomographers from other countries.
Are you working on any exciting projects at the moment that you can tell us about?
I have some new programs that I am working on with my friend. Kool Kids Records Club is a program for kids where we do workshops and educational activities and introduce children's songs using vinyl. Also I’m still working on my routine projects such as : Spinning Duapinning (Vinyl DJ Sessions) and HISS (Heyfolks! In Store Session).
Of course, I am just starting the preparations for my festival, the AXEAN Festival 2025. We are in the middle of selecting the venue and meeting with many potential sponsors. I’m also preparing a tour plan for some SRM rosters for next year.
Any messages to other Lomographers out there?
Hey, let’s continue our Lomo journey and shoot as much as we can. Lomo on!
Thank you to Satria for sharing his experience and thoughts! You can follow his daily activities on Instagram.
