Synesthesia #20 Imagined Album Covers of Lomography
4 Share TweetFor this edition of Synesthesia, we pair up a mix of electronic-pop, all-time classics, operatic video game themes, and dark dance music with some of the latest photos from the Lomography community.
This image by @okannaok powerfully showcases the strengths of women. The imagery of the woman holding the sword reminds us of the cultural reference of Canadian pop star Carly Rae Jepsen wherein she brings out a sword during her song Cut To The Feeling. With that we chose three songs created by powerful women artists that mix pop and electronic.
Magdalena Bay - Fear, Sex
Carly Rae Jepsen - Cut To The Feeling
ROSALÍA - A Palé
This lovely portrait by @11hel11 is so dreamy and feels like something we might see at raves and parties. The colorful lighting and the ethereal set design transport us into another world where we can all just dance. The tunes chosen are club-ready anthems that invoke the feeling of the image.
FKA twigs - Eusexua
Shygirl – tell me (ft. Boys Noize)
Nick León · Erika de Casier - Bikini
Still following a theme of fantasy, this picture reminds us of the world-building and vast landscapes that you can explore in an abundance of video games. With music scorings that revolve around classical and opera these three themes from Final Fantasy 7, God Of War Ragnarok and Halo 2 will transport you to a world not of our own.
Nobuo Uematsu - FFVII Remake Main Theme
Bear McCreary - The Ninth Realm
Martin O'Donnell - Halo 2 Theme
At first, this double exposure by @yokosima had us mesmerized as we tried to figure out how he was able to create this trippy and interesting image. Heavily reminding us of a mix of 90s dance culture graffiti, probably because of the neon sign image, this dark and brooding picture gets paired up with some equally dark and moody dance tracks perfect for walking on a gloomy day.
Avalon Emerson & Roi Perez - Champu Princess
Cosmo - Misty Memories
Wallace - Tanzanite
Lastly, this semi-candid photo taken by @thestupidwolf transports us back to the 50s and 60s with the folk movement in full swing. This easily could be an album cover for an artist in that era. The natural lighting really shines so well on the subject and it creates a wonderful effect. With that here are three songs from classic female artists.
Joan Baez - A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall (Live)
Stevie Nicks - Talk To Me
Nico - I'll Keep It With Mine
