Lomography & Urban Outfitters Present: Urban Nomad

As you all already know by now, Lomography and Urban Outfitters

As you all already know by now, Lomography and Urban Outfitters
have teamed up once again to bring you an international photo competition called “==Urban Nomad.==” Last year’s competition was such an incredible success, and from the looks of it so far, this year is already shaping up to be another stellar competition.

So let’s go over the game-plan here.

Over the next three weeks, you’ve got three different avenues to document your rambling lifestyle:

At the end of each week, we’ll announce 15 winners, 5 for every category. The winners will each receive a shiny new Lomographic camera or an Urban Outfitters gift voucher. With three weeks of competition, that’s 45 prizes to be given away!

Here’s the prize breakdown, in case your mind is not sufficiently blown yet:

Week one:

Week two:

Week three:

Ok, impressed yet?

How about the grand prize winner then?

How does $1000 in cash sound?
And, if that wasn’t enough, throw in a few Lomographic treats for good measure. How about…

And, the grand prize winning photo will be turned into wall art that will be sold in Urban Outfitters stores across the galaxy!

Remember that each week there are featured cameras:

By submitting photos with the featured cameras of the week, you greatly increase your chances of winning, as 8 of the 15 winners will be chosen from each week’s featured camera.

The contest runs from August 21st through September 14th. So there’s not time to waste! Head over to the Urban Nomad page now and show us your best!

i know it's kinda lame, but can we resubmit shots we've entered into previous competitions? i'm trying not to, but there's one or two i really like that i think would be suitable...

you certainly can... but our judges have excellent memories, and they are much more wowed by shots they haven't seen before... just a little tip... :)

One of the images that I submitted got all jacked up somewhere in the process, is there anyway to resubmit the same image that is not screwed up?

I simply hate the idea of not posting photos taken with lc-a or lc-a+.
I had just a diana+ that then I gave as a present to a friend of mine, this camera is shit.

    so how do we submit????

What's exactly this 110mm soft telephoto lens for Diana+?? Didn't find any informations about it on the Diana+ microsite..? A new lens for Diana again?? Waow, that makes of Diana one of the most complete lomographic cameras with all these different lenses and the 35mm back!!! :)))))))

@ janisthewanis: i'll have to defer that question to one of the Vienna folks, so stay tuned until monday

@ ferro_ud: you don't have to submit with a diana+, it's just that half the shots will be picked from that camera this week... the other half would be all other cameras, so lc-a or lc-a+ is fine... any analog cam is fine... and sorry you don't like the diana+... i happen to disagree and think it's an instrument of magic... ;)

@neja: click on the link to the competition, and then just go to the submission page... same as all other competitions... :)

@vicuna: the telephoto lens is coming soon...

In the Legal page, urbannomad.lomography.com/legal - there is mention of grand prize being a trip to the Lomo World Congress in London. Looks like it's taken from the previous competition.

"In the event that a Participant under the age of 21 wins the Grand Prize (Trip to the Lomography World Congress in London), they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. This parent or guardian is responsible to pay for their own airfare, accommodation, and ticket for the World Congress activities."

A question about the votings: how do they "influence" the jury? What's their exact purpose for the choice of the winning pics?? It is the total amount of voting (positve/negative) that shows that there's a "debate" on a shot, or the average of both pos/neg votings? And a shot with a negative average, does it mean that it is a "bad" shot???
I don't really understand the interest of negative voting, and I think that a shot that has no voting at all is (sometimes) less interesting that the one who has a lot of negative ones... and if I don't like a shot, I prefer to not vote it than put a negative voting....

@vicuna: i agree. the voting kind of confuses me. if i like something, i'll give it a "thumbs up" vote; if something isn't particularly my taste, i just move on to the next one. since taste is so subjective, i hope these votes don't influence the judges too heavily. i've come across what i think are some fantastic pictures with scores well into the negative, even though i thought they were quite awesome! are these going to be overlooked because of their "bad" score? i hope not. the whole thing seems weird to me.
