3We recently invited a film enthusiast, Cockembolanh from Vietnam, to use our Lomography ISO 400 35mm Color Negative Film and ISO 800 35mm Color Negative Film to capture some special moments while travelling. In addition to sharing insights into their passion for film photography, Cockembolanh also discusses recent trips to Da Lat and Quy Nhon, along with their experiences using these two films. Let's check it out!
Hello Cockembolanh! Welcome to Lomography Magazine! Can you introduce yourself and tell us what you do?
Hi! My name is Quynh, but you can call me cockembolanh. I have a passion for film photography and consider it my favorite hobby to do in my free time.
How did you start your analogue journey?
I started my passion for film photography about 10 years ago when I was in high school. During a visit to my relatives, I saw my cousin using a film camera to take photos. After that, seeing the vivid and beautiful pictures with their impressive colors motivated me to begin my own journey in film photography.
What are you working on at the moment?
I am working in the field of economics, while also pursuing projects related to film photography. I find it quite interesting that I can balance these two different types of work.
How would you describe your style of photography?
To be honest, I think I have a passion for capturing beautiful moments in everyday life and the enchanting views of the places I pass through. Additionally, taking portraits to portray the beauty of my subjects and their moments is also a joy for me.
What kind of gear do you mostly use?
I mostly use a Pentax Spotmatic camera with a Takumar 55mm f/1.8 lens, which has been with me for about 5 years. I use it primarily for portrait photography. Additionally, I recently started using a Nikon U, which is compact and lightweight. It’s convenient for days when I want a more portable camera, especially in low light conditions, so I don’t have to worry too much about adjusting settings.
Where did you go to shoot these photos?
I had the opportunity to travel to Da Lat and Quy Nhon, which are places with beautiful landscapes in Vietnam. Fortunately, the weather during the trip was very favorable, allowing me to capture some images that I’m really pleased with.
What features did you like most about our Lomography ISO 400 and ISO 800 Color Negative film?
From my point of view, I was very impressed by the vibrant colors and how well they complement my photography style. I was pleasantly surprised by how beautiful the colors turned out in the developed photos, whether taken at night or during the day.
What is your favorite photo from this series and why?
I’m really into this photo which is the one I took in Da Lat. When I was taking the photo, I could see the sunlight sparkling, and I imagined the picture would turn out beautifully. It did, and the colors captured with the Lomography 400 film perfectly matched what I saw in real life.

What do you think about the photography trend in Vietnam?
From my perspective, film photography is becoming popular again in Vietnam. People are enjoying its unique look and the nostalgic feel it brings to their photos.
Anything you’d like to share with the Lomography community?
I see film photography as a joy and hope the film photography community will continue growing. May everyone capture wonderful photos and find as much pleasure in the process.
