Hello Francis! Welcome back to Lomography Magazine. Please tell us about your first impressions of the new Lomo'Instant Wide Glass?

When using the Lomo'Instant Wide Glass at first, I felt a certain weight of the camera. Perhaps it is due to the glass lens. However, it actually feels good! That weightiness gives a sense of confidence while shooting, making it less prone to shake. Looking at the side functions, there are features like a 1/30 second slow shutter, a B shutter mode for long exposures, a built-in flash, exposure compensation control, an f/22 aperture mode and multiple exposure function. At that moment, numerous creative ideas flooded my mind.

How is the experience of using this camera different from other instant cameras you have used?

Firstly, the glass lens undoubtedly offers superior sharpness for images, resulting in more detailed pictures on instant film. Secondly, the abundance of creative features mentioned above is relatively uncommon in similar products on the market.

What do you like most about the camera?

I particularly like its 1/30-second slow shutter and flash sync function, which enhances night portrait shots by making the background more transparent. Additionally, the B mode for long exposures and multiple exposures allow for endless creativity when used together.

For you, what is the appeal of instant photography compared to other analogue formats?

Instant photos can be shared with friends immediately, opening up conversations even with strangers during travels with just a single picture. While sharing images online is undoubtedly convenient, once the screen is swiped, few people revisit those photos. On the contrary, every time you share a tangible photo with friends, they tend to pass it around, looking at it carefully and smiling. As a photographer, it brings me great joy to see the smiles on my friends' faces as they look at the photos.

Did shooting with this camera change your photographic perspectives or habits?

Using an instant camera is quite different from other cameras. I tend to pay more attention to the subjects' expressions and the surrounding environmental changes. This shooting process is actually a form of practice, training in communicating with the subjects, and swiftly immersing them in emotions within a very short timeframe.

Just be fearless. By daring to experiment with various function combinations, users can fully unleash their creativity and discover their own preferred style of instant photography.
