Kate Hook
Shiny and whimsical, artist Kate Hooks channeled the beach life experience for this ocean-themed La Sardina DIY. In a 2022 interview with us, Kate, who lives close to the beach in Brighton, UK, shared about her process for the DIY, taking photos of her friends with the La Sardina and more.
Selver Yildirim
Turkish artist Selver Yildirim created this La Sardina DIY in 2016, embodying her aesthetic of clean lines and enchanting colors. While minimalistic, her take on the La Sardina DIY feels light-hearted and curious at the same time. In our interview with her, she talked about how she got into design as an Art and Design student in Turkey back then, and showed off some photos taken with the La Sardina.

I use my pencils to fight against inequality and to make visible sad realities like fatphobia or eating disorders, racism or mental health problems looking from a feminist, intersectional and trans-inclusive view. Many of us know about Lomography's LomoApparat collaboration with Thai artist Proei-Natchariya Laosrisin (Fluffy Omelet), but this time let's look back on her La Sardina DIY version, where she took DIY to a whole new level by employing her many artistic skills. Fluffy Omelet's signature vibrant and bubbly aesthetic shines in this customization. Watch her process in this video!
Paloma Cordova
Texas-based artist Paloma Cordova, also known as paloma the peach, came out with a simple yet warm and adorable design with her La Sardina collaboration with Lomography. In our interview with her, she talked about how her own environment and experiences as a wife, mother to many animals, student and Mexican immigrant inspires her artwork.
She also talked about getting inspired by the Mexican cowboy theme, Charro attire and the Mexican flag for the adorable piece which she made during Hispanic Heritage Month.
Serena Confalonieri
Designer and art director Serena Confalonieri took inspiration from graphic patterns, textile tradition and Postmodernism for this "La Sardina DIY made in 2023. In an interview, she talked about her specific design inspirations, and why analogue photography remains relevant to her.
Photography has always been an art form that I am very passionate about. In particular, I find analogue photography very interesting because for me it is a symbol of spontaneity. I relate it to moments of leisure and conviviality, during which I take souvenir photos with an analogue camera. The fact that you cannot decide to delete and replicate a photograph makes it all so real and direct.
Aniek Bartels
This La Sardina DIY by children's book illustrator Aniek Bartels is sure to give you a warm, fuzzy feeling! The Dutch artist takes inspiration from her childhood to create art that "helps children express complex emotions simply and confidently through my colorful and humorous illustrations, aiding them in overcoming challenges and fostering their confidence."

Valerie van Rooij
Meanwhile, this La Sardina DIY by Valerie van Rooij is another cute design that we still love over ten years since it's creation! A take on the maneki-neko figurine which originated in Japan and is thought to bring good luck, Valerie's design won the NSMBL x Lomography Expo Party's DIY competition. She documented her process in our interview with her. The creative piece tells us we can be inspired by anything and everything when it comes to expressing ourselves with the La Sardina DIY!
Asia Orlando
Artist Asia Orlando brings funky jungle vibes with this La Sardina DIY customization, which she documented through a video, from starting out with sketches to the wild scene coming alive with colorful markers. Making use of the materials she had on hand, this vivid and fun jungle illustration is definitely an inspiring design!
Louise Lockhart
Another wonderful design rooted in nature motifs, this bright red La Sardina DIY by illustrator Louse Lockhart is adorable and artistic! In an interview with us, she talked about how she got the inspiration for the design and created it using watercolor paint, glue and paper cut-outs.
