Synesthesia #18 Imagined Album Covers of Lomography
7 Share TweetFor this edition of Synesthesia, we take a look at some recent additions to the ever-growing Lomography community. Using expired films, experimental lenses like the Nour triplet V, and trippy film stocks like LomoChrome Purple, these photos showcase how photography can be used to convey certain themes such as melancholy, empowerment, and mystery. For this Synesthesia we have found music from some of the hottest pop stars, indie-electronic classics, and smooth jazz that certainly pair up well with these lovely community photos.
Haunting and mysterious, this photo reminds us of a mix of 80s-90s new wave artists and female pop stars who are more on the darker side of music. Reverbed vocals, mystical instruments and nostalgic lyrics can be heard throughout the picture.
Joolz - House Of Dream
Ana Roxanne - Camille
Nabihah Iqbal - Dreamer
When we saw this photo it instantly reminded us of the waterfall scene from the movie Call Me By Your Name. Looking into that theme we found tracks that bring a feeling of wandering, adventure, and melancholy. The expired film adds a muted and dark tone that makes you want to reminisce. Putting it all together the mood of the photos and songs blend to give a melancholic and emotional connection.
Axel Boman - Eyes Of My Mind
Sufjan Stevens - Mystery of Love
The Beatles - Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown)
The past summer had the airwaves filled with feel-good women-led pop music from artists such as Chappel Roan and Charli XCX. With both having their moment in the summer sun this photo reminds us of the energy that their music conveys which is carefree, empowered, and fun. These three choices are sure to make you feel like the tallest in the room and that you can take on any challenge.
Chappell Roan - HOT TO GO!
Charli XCX - Everything is romantic
Slayyyter - Mine
Using our newest lens, the Nour triplet V, Lomographer @ilkka11 captures these lights and creates a soft out-of-focus look using the lens. Reminiscent of setting suns and somehow also giving a bit of a sci-fi look, the picture brings us back to a time when indie-electronic music was heard everywhere. These three bands from the 2010s bring an electrifying sound that complements the look and feel of this picture taken using the Nour lens.
Friendly Fires - Velo
Yacht - Psychic City (Classixx Remix)
CHVRCHES - Clearest Blue
This photo taken by @kvnbyln using the Simple Use Camera with LomoChrome Purple instantly makes us feel calm and relaxed. Blending this picture with some psychedelic and smooth jazz, it could easily be used as an album cover for alternative, psychedelic instrumental music.
Finn Rees - Looking Up
Les Mccan - Sometimes I Cry
Inner Beauty - Lonnie Liston Smith
