Colors of the Imagination: Photographer Rossana Battisti Shares Her Love of LomoChrome Turquoise

1

Italian film photographer Rosanna's (@roxybeat) work with our LomoChrome Turquoise film is reminiscent of still scenes from old fantasy films yet to be restored, the grain and colors serving to pique the viewer's interest.

Rosanna has previously tried out other Lomography film stocks such as LomoChrome Purple, Lomography Color Negative ISO 100, and LomoChrome Metropolis. In this feature, Rosanna talks about her creative process for this photoshoot with LomoChrome Turquoise, and what draws her time and time again to LomoChrome film stocks.

My name is Rossana, I live in Bergamo (Italy) and I choose analogue photography and film to bring my imaginary world to life.

Analogue photography is a natural practice for me because I've always used film cameras. The difference between yesterday and today is that I learned to develop and print my own film in the darkroom, and I started to create my own images.

I really love manipulating my images, intervening by putting words on paper or typing sentences on them, or putting inserts that are extraneous to the original photo. But what is very important in my aesthetics are the colors and through my project of hand colorization I try to create my personal and inner world.

For the same reason I approached LomoChrome Turquoise films, and before that LomoChrome Purple. Anything that alters reality and turns it into a dream attracts me.
I love the atmospheres it is able to create, I love its fairy porcelain skin and of course I love turquoise.

I find this film very versatile, suitable for landscape photography and for portraiture. It's without a doubt my favorite Lomography film.

I don't have a predefined theme for my shoots. I simply draw inspiration from my everyday life, from the changes and transformations I feel inside me, and then I try to give them the colors of my imagination.

My influences are manifold. Literature certainly plays a very important role, and also cinematographic suggestions, contemporary fine art photography but above all the great photography of the past, meeting new people and travelling. All of this serves to nourish my imagination.

I'm a very curious person and I like to experiment and try new and different films, that's why I approached Lomography films.
