A Psychedelic Vision with Daisy Nefatari and the LomoChrome Purple 35 mm Film

Devon-based photographer Daisy Nefatari, AKA Blossom Bay Photography, takes inspiration from her love of 60s/70s vintage fashion and album artwork, using mistakes and happy accidents to her advantage. We can't resist a good double exposure and talked to Daisy about her recent tests with the LomoChrome Purple 35 mm ISO 100–400 film, which she originally road tested for her YouTube channel.

Hello Daisy, please tell us a bit about yourself.

I'm 33 and live in a beautiful rural part of Devon, UK. I'm passionate about 1960s and 70s vintage fashion, which greatly influences my style and photography. I've been shooting film for roughly two and a half years now, and it's something I truly love. When I'm not behind the camera, I enjoy exploring the countryside, thrifting for vintage treasures, and connecting with the creative community here.

What made you want to start a YouTube channel dedicated to film photography?

I started the YouTube channel to connect with other creatives and to document my creative journey, sharing both the highs and lows along the way. I wanted to create a space that embraces experimentation, where botched frames or unsuccessful rolls are just part of the fun. It's about understanding that failures are valuable because we learn the most from those experiences. It's also about realising that what you might perceive as failures often become your artistic special sauce, making you truly unique. It’s my goal to share that message. I'm incredibly grateful for the amazing community I've connected with through the channel—it's really something special.

Talk us through these photos. What were you trying to achieve? Where did the inspiration come from?

I listen to a lot of vinyl, and the album artwork is always a big source of inspiration for me. In particular, I was drawn to the artwork of "Axis: Bold as Love" by The Jimi Hendrix Experience and "Little Queen" by Heart.

The mix of colors and psychedelic patterns from The Hendrix album speaks to me on a creative level, and the location and overall vintage whimsical feel from Little Queen are right up my street. I wanted to blend the two and create something unique. Sylvie, my model, has an incredible sense of style and lives right next to a beautiful forest. We didn't have much of a plan other than that —everything came together organically.

How did you find the results of the LomoChrome Purple film?

The LomoChrome Purple 35 mm film blew me away and instantly became my favorite from Lomography. The dreamy color shifts brought my psychedelic vision to life, perfectly capturing that slightly desaturated, vintage vinyl cover feel. I love how reds remain deep and vivid, as red and purple are one of my favorite color combinations. The skin tones remained very natural, and the final images were everything I hoped for and more. I couldn't have been happier with the results!

If you could invent your perfect film what would it do/look like?

I've always dreamed of a film that captures the essence of pre-light leaked rolls but with an extra twist. Imagine built-in prism effects, kaleidoscope patterns, and motion blur—like a psychedelic trip on film. If something like that hit the market, I’d stock up in a heartbeat.
