LomoChrome Color '92 Sun-Kissed Film: First Impressions by Andrej Russkovskij
3 11 Share TweetItalian born, Berlin based film photographer Andrea Russo, known to the community as Andrej Russkovskij, tested our brand new LomoChrome Color '92 Sun-Kissed Edition film. In this interview he talks about his first impressions and shows us his amazing photo series shot in different scenarios – studio settings and outdoors in nature.
Hello Andrea, welcome to our magazine. Please let us know a little bit about yourself. What should the community know about you?
Hello! I am Andrea, a 36-year-old vet from Italy currently living in Berlin. I am working by day and shooting analogue by night. (Well actually I am doing both during the day.)
Where did you test our new LomoChrome Color '92 Sun-kissed film?
Most of the film was shot in sunny Tenerife during a road-trip with my friend Marta. The rest was done in a Berlin based photo-studio I had rented for a shoot with Charlene who is a professional dancer.
How would you describe the look of the new LomoChrome Color '92 Sun-kissed? What's your first impression of the new emulsion?
Summerful, fresh, a bit on the grainy side with very interesting saturation (it reminds me a bit of crossed processed Lomography Xpro 200). It offers a lot of flexibility and works well in different light settings.
What do you think is the ideal situation to photograph with the LomoChrome Colour '92 Sun-kissed film?
The sunny, bright landscapes of an island like Tenerife are perfect for this film where it even delivers satisfying results when the light fades during the golden hour. I would preferably shoot it during spring and summer - no matter the setting.
What is your favourite photo of this series?
I am in love with the results of the sunset session at Los Gigantes. Those crazy, dramatic cliffs at the westside of the island! The moment was truly magic: golden hour, majestic landscape, the great feeling of being there. We came without expectations and did not expect it being as great as it turned out to be. It felt like the starting point of a great adventure with a friend of a lifetime!
In your opinion, what makes a good photo?
It has to move me and make me want to look at it for more than just a few seconds. To achieve that, I think you need a mix of luck, experience, an unerring eye and sensitivity.
What advice would you give to others who will shoot for the first time with the LomoChrome Colour '92 Sun-kissed?
Have fun with it and bring it to your next trip!
