Hello Samantha, it’s nice to have you here in the Lomography Magazine! Please introduce yourself to the Lomography Community.

Hello! I’m a full-time journalist who spends her weekend teaching yoga and aerial. I’m passionate about quite a few things but film photography has been a constant in my life for a good decade or so.

Share with us your photographic background. What is your story? How did you get into analogue photography?

During my childhood days, my mom worked in a creative advertising agency. As such, I got to play with the film cameras she used at work sometimes, both point-and-shoots and Polaroid cameras. She bought me my first film camera when I was 7 and the rest was history. In my early twenties, I started shooting portraits and weddings as a side hustle.

Even though I’ve used digital cameras and DSLRs, I’ve always had a soft spot for the film look. In my late twenties, I started organising film photo walks and eventually found a community of film lovers like myself. We’ve been good friends since.

What was your first impression of the Lomomatic 110?

It’s colourful, fun, compact, and a total breeze to use.

How did you like shooting with the Lomomatic 110?

I’ve always been drawn to film cameras that are fuss-free and lightweight because they allow me to get into action whenever a key moment strikes. The Lomomatic 110 fits the bill because it’s not only pocket sized but also packed with sufficient features to let me shoot from day to night.

Any tips for people using the Lomomatic 110 for the first time?

As with any camera, take some time to familiarise yourself with the features. Once you’re able to toggle seamlessly between the distance focusing knobs, the flash on/off, and day/night aperture mode, you’re pretty much good to go!

How do you choose the perfect situation for shooting this camera?

With the built-in flash, any situation’s a perfect situation. I personally like shooting at night at a location where there’s plenty of neon lights.

What do you think are the pros and cons of the 110 format?

Pros: The camera’s compact and easy to take around, especially if you’re travelling and want to keep things light.

Cons: It’s half the size of a regular 35 mm film. It’s kinda hard to get high resolution prints if that’s what you’re into.

Any messages to Singapore Lomographers out there?
