6 Share TweetSay Guten Tag to the new Lomo’Instant Automat & Lenses Klimt Gold Leaf and the Lomo’Instant Automat & Lenses Klimt Water Serpents II / Maiden! We are paying homage to the master of Austrian Symbolism: Gustav Klimt. In his honor today we have a fun beginner-friendly tipster to play with your instant photography and get closer to Gustav Klimt’s iconic artistry.
Push the limits of those little white frames and get creative with your instant photos. Today we want to expand the boundaries between photography and mixed media, and add a splash of the signature look of Klimt's work to our photos by adding some hand-painted gold color.
Execution
The master's paintings are famous for their longilineal figures. To get that effect we have composed our portraits to expand and distort the body's point of view.
To compose the photos we played with different dimensions and proportions. The figures become an emblem, crossing between the metamorphosis of reality and figurative, where we are not showing a literal description but rather adding a twist to the portraits.

This simple trick of composing with multiple parts opens a curious way to show somebody's likeness, blurring the boundaries of instant frames. Some simple, yet effective ways to use your camera's features is to shoot one frame closer and the second a step further, always remembering to adjust your focus ring.
If you wish to go a step further into your instant manipulations and get closer to Klimt aesthetic don't hesitate to add a touch of gold. To achieve this look we are using a marker and coloring on our instant photos.
Ink pens come in many sizes. By adjusting your hand pressure you can make different kinds of marks. Release some ink and paint with a brush, a stick, or whatever your creative mind feels like to trying. There is never a right or wrong way of experimenting!
