Hi Carla, welcome back to our Online Magazine! Where these photos were taken?
The photos were taken on Saint Louis, Senegal.
Why did you choose this country for your trip?
My sister is studying there, and I like to visit her.
Can you share with us the cities you visited in this trip?
I visited the capital of Senegal, Dakar. But I stayed most of the time in Saint Louis. It's a village of fishermen, very humble and beautiful.
Which place impressed you the most and will stay in your heart?
The Faidherbe bridge, because it is the only bridge that connects the mainland with the island and a lot of people pass through it.
And what impressed you the most during this trip?
The kindness of the people there, the cultural differences and the amount of old cars.
How important is it for you to document your travels with photos?
Maybe this sounds weird, but the purpose of most of my trips is taking photographs. This is what I like the most: going to a new place that I don't know, walking a lot and taking a lot of photos.
When you are in a new country, how do you approach people when taking photos?
I'm very shy so when someone approaches me and asks me about the photo I'm taking I get very nervous and usually I reply with the first thing that comes to my mind. For this reason, I also do not explicitly take photos of people.
In certain situations, did it ever happen to you that you preferred not to take photos and just enjoy the moment?
Yes. In my last trip to Barcelona I only finished one roll of film because I tried to enjoy the city and the trip. But I'm a little bit addicted to work and because of that I had to shoot at least one roll of film.
Do you have any plans for your next trip?
Yes! My next trip will be in October to the Dominican Republic and New York. Thanks for letting me test the Lomography Color 400! It is one of my favorite color films and I think it's perfect to take on a trip because of its ISO range and the vibrant colors it produces.
You recently released your first Photo Zine called "Trips." Can you tell us more about this project?
Throughout my life I've visited many countries. In this fanzine I've compiled some of my favorite photos from some trips with my family and my boyfriend between 2017 and 2021. The whole Zine was taken on different film stocks as well as different 35 mm cameras.
