August workshops @ LGS London!

2010-07-21

The sun is out in all its glory and summer is here – it’s time to dust of your cameras (or test some new ones!) and take them out for a spin

Our August Workshop Schedule is packed with lots of ways you can experiment with your Lomographic cameras – from specific camera courses to a Lomowalk & Cruise PLUS a cool *Lomomotion/Matrix event!

Please ring us or pop in store to book in advance as places are limited.

August 5th Thursday 6pm – What the hell is Lomography?

An Introduction to all things analogue. Get to meet all the Lomographic cameras as well as test one of your choice. This is a definite must for anyone who is confused about the prospects of shooting film and want to know more… we’re here to help!
Tickets are £10 and include lend-a-camera, a roll of film and discounts on film processing.

August 10th Tuesday 1pm – Lubitel Portrait Sessions in Black & White

Learn all about this manual twin lens beauty and take her out on a little hunt. We’ll walk the streets of Soho and Covent Garden to find quirky, trendy characters ready for their pictorial debut. Nothing shoots portraits like the Lubitel+ and to make things even more dramatic we’ll do it in B&W.
Tickets are £20 and include lend-a-camera, a roll of film and discounts on film processing.

August 14th Saturday 10am – Canals, Cruises & Camden: A Lomowalk with James Butler

From Paddington Basin, Little Venice and a Canal boat ride to Camden; this walk is packed with awesome locations to shoot. James (AKA Slimmer_Jimmer on Flickr) will take the group through the architectural landscape in and around Paddington then amble through Little Venice to catch the 45min canal cruise up to Camden Lock, all the while shooting and chatting (maybe grabbing a bite to eat as well) while passing the famous works of Banksy! In Camden there are hosts of things to photograph – from graffiti to the stable markets and street food stalls…. take care when shooting the punks though!
Tickets cost £20 and include the canal cruise fare, lend-a-camera and a roll of film plus discounts on film processing. Get your oyster/travel cards ready as we’ll be hopping on the tube. Meeting place @LGS London – please don’t be late!

August 19th Thursday 6pm – LC-A at an arms length

_One of the 10 rules of Lomography is to get close and with the LC-A camera that means to get exactly an arms length from your object! Learn about the legendary black box that started Lomography and learn to shoot sharp. This is definitely the camera to get up close and personal with!
Tickets are £10 and include lend-a-camera, a roll of film and discounts on film processing. _

August 22nd Sunday 1pm – Lomomotion: Human Caterpillar through Carnaby

This is going to be tight! A first ever attempt @LGS London at stop motion/matrix photography directed by film makers Joel Byron and Greg Ash. A group of 20 armed with LC-A+ cameras and film ammunition will snake through Newburgh Quarter starting at the shop front and making way along Carnaby street to finish off in a circle at Golden Square for some awesome matrix style action shots – jumps, kicks and balloons!Tickets are £25 (if you borrow a camera) and £20 (if you have the camera) and includes 3 rolls of film and free processing!

August 26th Thursday 6pm – Most Wanted: DianaF+

Because no one can resist the Diana camera, we’re back with basics on camera manipulation and understanding the different settings plus introducing you to her whole range of accessories. If you have one already and can’t quite work out how to use it or are thinking of purchasing one but want to “try before you buy”…. this workshop is for you!
Tickets are £10 and include lend-a-camera, a roll of film and discounts on film processing.

Reconsidering the Enemy: Molds in Photography

A photograph is a sponge of change. It resists to be one thing for all time. When it soaks up some sun and sip in a little moisture, it is already in a state of chemical imbalance. It welcomes decay, and a new beauty sets in.

    Trusty Bags for Trusty Cameras

We spend copious amounts of time stalking camera forums and researching specifications that "hunter" seems a more fitting term than "collector." Last year though we stocked up on camera bags that are as cool as they are protective. Here are some of them.
