Singapore, a city, a state – located in Southeast Asia. Melting Pot for a lot of different nationalities and cultures. Chinese, Malay, European and Indian people live together peacefully on around 700 Squarekilometres.

In spite of all harmony, still each ethnic group still keep their own quarter.
Chinatown and Little India are only two of them. But in Little India, you really feel like somebody move you over to Mumbay in a second or two.

This place is a festival for all your senses! You can smell spices and incense everywhere, you can see people wearing colorful clothes and you can see a lot of gods and godesses for sake like Ganesha or Krishna.

The fod is served on a banana leaf and for sure you will eat only with your hand, but be sure to use the “right” hand!
You can find, traditional woodwork, brass and colorful Saris. To shorten it up, a paradise for shop-a-holics and the place to be for Lomographers.

Once a year, this quarter will transform in a fairytale country with decorated streets full of people. It is the time of the Depavali- Festival, the hinduism festival of lights.
Another event must be the Thaipusam-Festival in January / February, in which Hindus show their strong believe in their religion.

To sum it up, Little India is a real experience and for sure worth a visit or two.
You will nearly expect an elephant coming around the corner or a Fakir laying on a bed of nails.

How to go there:
With the Northeast Line to NE7, Little India Station or take the SBS Bus Nr. 65 from Orchard Road, Station Tekka Market.
