Hi Carla, could you make a small presentation to the readers of our Online Magazine?

Hi! I'm Carla Dief and I live in Madrid, Spain. I'm 24 and I've been shooting film since 2014. I began my photography studies in 2017 here in Madrid and I started to work as a photographer in 2019. In 2018 I started a photography Youtube channel and I love making videos talking about everything related to photography!

Tell us about your photographic background. What is your story? When did you start photographing?

I started photographing because I saw my parents taking a lot of photos on our trips. My parents love to travel, and so do I and my sister. So we have always travelled a lot haha.

On those trips, I always used to ask my dad if he could lend me his camera. A lot of times his answer was "no" because I was too little. But sometimes...he told me "yes". I've published a video on my Youtube channel talking about this.

My first real contact with photography was when I was 12, I believe. With my first camera, a Fujifilm compact camera. Two or three years later, my grandma gave me my first two film cameras. That was amazing! Those cameras belonged to my great-grandmother!

These wonderful photos were taken with our LomoChrome Metropolis Film: what are the features that impressed you the most?

The colors. They are so different and unique!

Which camera did you use for these photos?

I used one of my favorite cameras, the Minolta SRT100x with a 50mm f1.4 MD Rokkor lens. This is my main 35mm combo and I take most of my photos with this gear.

How did you choose the location? Did the kind of film influence the choice of the location?

Of course, this Lomochrome Metropolis was a big influence in the choice of the location. I always search for references and see photos of other photographers who have used the film I'm about to test. When I saw the colors of this film the location came to my mind immediately.

What photo equipment do you take with you on your travels?

Usually, I use my SLR camera Minolta SRT100x and my Nikon EF500SV point and shoot.

You also have a very interesting YouTube channel: why did you decide to create videos about photography? And what is the most challenging thing to keep up with a YouTube channel?

I started my Youtube channel in 2018 because I thought that there weren't enough women representation in the photography Youtube community. I still believe the representation of women in the photography YouTube community is too small, and I hope to see more women's photography YouTube channels in the near future.

The most challenging thing to keep up my Youtube channel is the comments from men, because some of them love to test my photography knowledge. Maybe they think I didn't study photography. Who knows...

Do you have any interesting projects or collaborations planned?

Yes! Right now I'm working on my first photography fanzine which will be available to buy in the near future.

About collaborations...Right now I'm collaborating with Carmencita Film Lab here in Spain. And I will have some collaborations with other brands soon, but I can't talk about that for now.

Don't forget to follow Carla on her Youtube channel, Instagram and to check her website.
