Multi-format Metropolis moments – by Sophia Jung

Sophia tested our LomoChrome Metropolis film and was not content with the 35 mm format, but also tried the mini version in the 110 format! For this, she had her Diana Mini and Fisheye Baby with her. So sit back and get inspired by these wonderfully grungy photos!

Can you tell us a little bit about yourself?

I'm Sophia, 27, who has been living in Nuremberg for 6 years, studying photography and graphic design in the 7th semester. I am fascinated by magazines, typography, beautiful papers, and generally analog creative work. I always keep my eyes open for the little but still special things – and I always discover new dimensions of creativity.

How did you get into analog photography? What do you particularly like about it?

I got my first analog camera over 10 years ago – found in my grandmother's closet. Since then I have been fascinated by analog photography, especially the experimental and unpredictable part of it. It brings something light-hearted with it for me to capture certain moments and other perspectives through the camera.

What was your experience with the LomoChrome Metropolis? How did you like it in contrast to other experimental films?

The film is really fun! The main focus of my results is the vintage tones. Also, the distinct grain comes through well. In comparison, I definitely find the film a bit more exciting, it puts the photographed motifs in a nostalgic setting.

Have you experimented with different ISO values and lighting conditions? If so, what do you think about the results?

Different ISO values unfortunately not, as this was technically not possible – but with different lighting conditions, it was. I like the colors of Metropolis Film, especially in direct sunlight.

Do you have a favorite picture from this series? If so, why do you like it so much?

I really like the double exposures, they create abstract situations & shapes, which I love. I also really like the picture with the tree in front of the yellow shutters – the colors play nicely together and I like the geometry in the picture. I still remember the moment I took the picture – we were cycling in Holland, on the way out of Eindhoven, I noticed this house.
