Making photography his main profession was more of a coincidental development for Max, but the interest in photography has its roots in his family. He fell in love with portrait photography because of the very personal process in which two people come together to create something. Max prefers natural portraits, without a lot of post-processing, which catches the feel of a real Moment. With analog photography, there are many technical decisions to be made, but Max enjoys this part the most:

"I especially like the technical part - mastering the camera, without automatisms, and the learning effect. The satisfaction when you look at the good scans and the self-criticism when you screwed up. There are no excuses for that, you have it in your own hands. In the case of an analogue portrait, one has to make a lot of decisions before pressing the shutter release and not a single thing can be disregarded."

Max tested the LomoChrome Metropolis 120 Format with his Pentax 67 and shared his experiences:

"The LomoChrome Metropolis is an extremely desaturated and high-contrast film, which I think you have to deal with very consciously. It is radically different from 'mainstream' colour films, and that's what makes it so appealing. A different look, out of the ordinary. I especially like the strong contrast."

For the studio shots that he personally likes best, Max exposed the film at ISO 400. For the outdoor shots, he intentionally decided to treat the film like an ISO 800 and underexposed it a bit.

"I' d like to use the LomoChrome Metropolis again in spring/summer to see how it works with sunlight and strong contrasts."

Last Year Max tested our Berlin Kino B&W Film 2019 formula. You can read more about his adventures here.
