Tell us about yourself and your channel.

Hi! My name is Thao but you can call me Teo. I have a YouTube Channel called itsteodore where I love to experiment with instant cameras, film cameras, and vintage cameras. I love to take pictures.

How did you first discover your interest in photography and reviewing photography products?

I've loved film and photography ever since I was a little kid. I remember always asking my mom to buy me disposable cameras for field trips and bringing them back to the drugstore to get developed at the 1-hour photo counters. But I think I really started getting interested in photography when I was in high school. In high school, I took photography and T.V. broadcasting classes and that's when my interest in photography began. I just think it's really cool. Especially with analog cameras, the film that you take with you was with you at that moment in time, and time is priceless so it makes it more meaningful (cheesy I know lol). I started reviewing cameras on YouTube in 2017. It started out as just making the videos for fun. I really enjoy taking things apart. So one summer in 2016, I took apart a Fujifilm Instax Mini 7 that I had purchased on eBay, and figured I should film it and post it on YouTube for fun. But then I realized a lot of people found the content really to be helpful. I just kept making them ever since. Now I make more experimental videos by testing out cameras. It's very informational especially for people who don't or can't have access to these film cameras.

Let's talk about the photos you shot with the La Sardina and Sprocket Rocket. What was the idea/concept behind each set of these photos?

The concept for the La Sardina photos was Shanghai. I just wanted to capture the normal daily lives of subjects and places in Shanghai. The concept for the Sprocket Rocket photos was capturing as much of landscape photos as I can since the Sprocket Rocket is a panoramic camera. I also tried to take some portrait shots with my dog too and they turned out great! The Sprocket Rocket is a very new camera for me. I would say the two rolls of film I took on the Sprocket Rocket was very experimental and a lot of pictures really surprised me and that's what I love about Sprocket Rocket, you never know what kind of pictures you will get.

What was your experience like shooting with the La Sardina and Sprocket Rocket? Do you prefer one over the other? Why?

I can't really say I'd prefer one over the other, but the La Sardina is good for general purpose photos, like portraits and street photography minus the flashy design (pun intended lol). The Sprocket Rocket is really good for daytime landscape shots. It's really wide, and especially with the exposed sprocket holes, it captures the whole landscape more so than most landscape cameras.

Do you have any tips for our readers on shooting with film?

Not really a tip, but if your pictures don't turn out the way you want it to be, then who cares? As long as you had fun taking them, then that's what makes it more special. If the pictures turn out good, then that's great. If not, then at least you had fun!

What is your favorite Lomography product to use and why?

I really love the Lomo La Sardina and the Diana Mini. I just love the design. The huge flash always makes the camera standout, and it is a perfect conversation starter.
