Taking advantage of the weekend, my friends and I went on a road trip to the beaches of Luzon! We ended up drove all the way to Pangasinan and saw the various beaches including the Hundred Islands and San Juan, La Union, but we stayed here in Bolinao.
Our home in Bolinao was called Villa Carolina Beach resort. It was the kind of place where you could go with a large group of friends, or your whole clan perhaps and share just one huge room, hangout and chill the whole day. That’s exactly what we did! There were around 10 of us so you could just imagine how much fun we were having!
We ate a lot, drank a lot and swam a lot! Although, I think the eating and pigging out bit was the most memorable part of the trip for me… We cooked our own food, grilled all cuts of pork and friend different sizes of fish! Looking back now, it seems like we had a feast that should have lasted for two days…
The resort was simple and clean. They have the usual beach activities such as snorkeling, kayaking and bonfires in the evening and they also had videoke machines and hammocks for relaxing. Anyway, there were a lot of local kids who swam near the resort and were more than happy to have their picture taken. The owners were also very accommodating and patient with all of our requests and ensured we had a great time.
Another amazing sight but was outside the resort was a cave which was 5 minutes away by car. In the cave with a natural pool with water that was so cold and clear! They also claimed it to have high mineral content which was good for healing wounds and detoxifying the body so we swam for at least an hour! It’s just too bad I didn’t bring any underwater camera with me. That cave is a definite must to experience!
It’s just too bad we could only stay for a short while. We didn’t even tour the city and I missed the famous Bolinao Church! Next time perhaps – It’s just a few hours away from Manila anyway!
