7 Photography Books to Own According to Art of Photography

2018-01-21 2

Photography vlogger Ted Forbes from "Art of Photography" starts 2018 with his top 7 monographs for every photographer to take inspiration from. The books range from old, iconic photographers,, famous contemporary photographers to new, non-famous shooters.

Forbes divided his list into three categories -- black and white photography, color photography and photography by non-famous shooters. What's interesting is how he discussed three color monographs -- Saul Leiter's "Early Color", Luigi Ghirri's "Kodachrome", and Ernst Haas' "Color Correction", all of which used the Kodachrome film for the color shots. Despite sharing the same emulsion, different styles emerged among the three.

For black and white photography, he recommended Irving Penn's "Centennial" and Flor Garduno's "Trilogia". He also recommended newcomer books: Shetland OO by Tom Barr and Morokko by Bastiaan Woudt.
