Photographer Antonio Castello is an old friend of Lomography and has once again taken out our mutual friend, the Diana F+ for a fun night. This time, the iconic medium format camera got to scent the air of the fashion world! Antonio Castello shares with us his series of spontaneous portraits from the Fashion Week New York and Berlin.
"Fashion Week Faces is a collection of medium format portraits shot backstage of the main events of Fashion Week in NYC and Berlin. The portraits are shot with a Diana F+ plastic camera with a glass lens and a black and white medium format film. The series started 4 years ago, when I was trying to find a different approach to capturing the fashion week -- a response to the usual way we are used to seeing fashion photos (retouched, hi-end, hi-res), in which the models are always posing for the photographer."
"The approach towards the models is also different in this case. Most of the photos are shot very close to the models and without previous advice, the idea is to capture raw images and real faces trough a low-fi medium achieving a kind of fine-art result."
