Who brings a large format camera nowadays? It's admittedly impractical, even among large format lovers, but the payoff of shooting the wilderness with it is worth it.
Photographer Steve O'Nions had spent a day hiking with a 4x5 camera, and since large format film holders are heavy, he only brought with him eight sheets of film, which would mean four total shots (since he doubles up) at the hike.
The process of doing so is delicate and careful. With incredibly limited film, this poses a challenge to one's skill and stroke of accuracy.
In the end, O'Nions finds the process and result to be very rewarding.
