Myths About Composition in Photography

2

There have been many things said about learning composition whether in painting or photography. Some would like to believe it's a talent or gift, some don't think it's relevant, and some believe it's all intuitive.

In fact, this is not true at all. Everything can be learned, some just have it easier in adapting to the principles of beauty.

Here, James Cowman dispels myths about learning composition -- the rule of thirds isn't always king, nor is it that you can't ever be as great as Robert Frank if you simply just don't have it. As one scientific genius would say, "Genius is 1% talent, and 99% hard work."

Golden ratio, dynamic symmetry, break the rules, just shoot, or learn from the masters and your own photographs, what works? How would you shot this shot next time? Consume a lot of different images and keep learning. Try something new and different.
