Warning: stop reading if you don't want a serious case of gear acquisition syndrome (GAS.) Proceed if you don't mind looking at a gorgeous piece of custom camera goodness.
We spotted this beautifully modified Olympus 35RC and we were just mesmerized. This is the kind of work that you would pay top dollar for and make room for a special place in your prized camera collection. Steve Lloyd worked on this 35RC for a friend of his and was kind enough to share his process and the eye catching result. It's a complete camera transformation and we're just nerding out big time.
Steve knew what he wanted to do with the camera even before he started the remodeling. He thought that such a beautiful camera should be equally functional so he went up and CLA'd the whole thing to make sure everything was in top condition before the modifications were to be done. The process was intricate and you can't help but be amazed at the effort and vision poured into the project. Aside from being GAS-inducing, this special camera poses as an inspiration to everyone who's looking to do a bit of a DIY project on their own. Obviously, it will take some time to reach Steve's level of craftsmanship but hey, everyone has to start somewhere.
The resulting Olympus 35RC is a sight to behold. From the grip and the smoother and stealthier profile, to the fine leatherette accents and custom paint (and matching pouch!) this one-off is definitely a special piece that will turn heads. One thing's for sure, we're just head over heels for this beautiful project camera.
