The '90s was a memorable, incredible decade. Apart from the founding of Lomography and the community, there were other fads and pop culture icons that made noise, forever etching in the minds of many. And before Harry Potter as the Boy Who Lived, we had Sabrina, the Teenage Witch.
We hate to break it to fans of mischief and magic with the wizarding world of Harry Potter, but Sabrina Spellman was here first. The character Sabrina was from a comic book series by George Gladir and Dan De Carlo, which was popular in the 60's. But the "half-human half-witch" Sabrina gained popularity the most during 1996 on the show "Sabrina the Teenage Witch". It ran for a good 7 seasons.
It also elevated Melissa Joan Hart as an icon of the '90s. If other teens weren't into grunge, they were probably in to witchy and along with The Craft, Buffy the Vampire slayer, witchy-fashion (laces, chokers, sheer, velvet and dark Victorian-inspired clothing) were the new aesthetics of the goth culture.
And everyone knows that the best character in the series was Salem (bonus some of the wisest words that ever came out from a magical cat).
