The lady love of the music icon John Lennon wasn't just famous for being the better half of the musician; she was an artist in her own right, one that influenced Lennon to take his creativity, imagination, and passion further, leading to some experimental works and music.
So, the godfather of avant-garde cinema Jonas Mekas composes a short cinematic love letter to the Japanese multimedia artist. Taken in 16mm and some new cuts, he takes us back to downtown New York art scene, Ono being experimental, unconventional self in the 60's and 70's through her performances, captured footage, and friendships.
"It’s a movie of memory,” says Mekas. “nostalgia and friendship, with Yoko Ono, John Lennon, George Maciunas, Andy Warhol.”
