Lomography Gallery Store Soho hosted a new exhibition of analogue photographs by Charlie Phillips entitled 'London is the Place for Me'. We also held a Meet the Artist evening, inviting questions from the attendees to gain a better understanding and hear the back stories behind the work on display.
Charlie Phillips is a revered photographer, perhaps best known for his photographs of Notting Hill at a time when the area was racked with poverty and the notorious landlord Peter Rachman was exploiting local tenants. He documented many aspects of urban life in an area that was seeing significant changes.
Displaying some iconic shots taken in the 70's capturing everything from protesting the Vietnam war to a poignant portrait of Muhammed Ali, the night was packed full of friends, family and fans. Regular community member and lens addict Chris Pollard was on hand to shoot the nights celebrations using the new Daguerreotype Achromat Chrome Plated Art Lens.
