Immerse into this extravagant exhibition boasting all documentary works focusing on the lifetime of Dutch painter Mondrian, most especially the portraits taken by different renowned photographers during his time.
Pieter Cornelis Mondriaan (changed to Mondrian) was first introduced to painting through his uncle Frits Mondriaan. When he wanted to be an artist, his father insisted to be a teacher first; and so, the artist studied by himself, both juggling two expertises. Around his 20's, he graduated, specializing on still life painting.
The extensive showcase is divided into four cities -- Amsterdam, Paris, London, and New York -- the cities which Mondrian developed and furthered himself as well as enabled him to revolutionize art. It has the largest collection of the artist -- from his paintings, letters, photographs, personal possessions, even his record collection.
Mondrian has been a favorite among the best portraitists -- André Kertész, Arnold Newman, Lisette Model, as well as Concrete Art pioneer Fritz Glarner.
For more information, visit the ongoing show The Discovery of Mondrian at the Gemeentemuseum in Haag. The show will close on September 4.
