This coming August, ten photographers from Whidbey Island, including Lomography Community's Lorraine Healy (@lorrainehealy), will be showcasing a diverse selection of visual works---from film photography to lithography.
"Many of us have been photographing for decades and have come from the film world and the darkroom; some took up photography relatively recently. We are a real mix in what we photograph, as well: several street photographers, several die-hard experimental shutterbugs, practitioners of traditional lithography, commercial pros who show their own personal work, you name it: there is one of us showing," shares Healy.
"Photographic Art: Through the Lenses of 10 Local Artists" is made possible by award-winning photographer Sharon Shoemaker, who has championed local arts on the island through several photography-discussion groups and shows. It will take place at the Front Room of the Bayview Cash Store. Since its sustainable restoration in 2000, the Cash Store has work closely with local businesses, artists, and craftspeople and continues to do so with its weekly Bayview Farmers Market. The show opens on August 4 and will run through the entire month.
