A Hustle and Bustle Walking Street (Nanjing Street, Shanghai)

2010-06-26 1

A very crowded walking streets with some old, european style buildings, and shopping centres.

Nanjing Road is a great place for shopping. It is also a great place for lomo!! Actually, it is one of the busiest world’s shopping streets. Exit at the People’s Square Station of Metro, you can easily get into the Nanjing Road East. Remember not to go to the West side. When you exit the station, and go onto the street, you will see a lot of people on the the street, with a lot of shops and hawkers on the sides. Walk along the street and take photos while you do your shopping. If you didn’t bring enough films with you, don’t panic, you can find films from the shops on the street.

At the end of the street, you will reach the Bund, where you can see old buildings of Banks, e.g. Bank of China, and enjoy a spectacular view of the Huangpu River and Pudong. If you begin your trip from People’s Square in the afternoon around 5pm, you can have enough time. By the time you arrive at the Bund, the sky will be dark, and the night view of the River will be an amazing experience

I went to Nanjing Road in the afternoon. It wasn’t a sunny afternoon, but a cloudy one. Lomography Slide 200 was enough for taking photos. You may try to go there at night as well.

Transport:
Metro Line No. 1,2&8 at People’s Square, or
Metro Line No 2 &10 at East Nanjing Road
