To celebrate our 25th anniversary, we are honoring 25 of the most iconic Lomographers in the community. We did some catching up with Andrea Russoj, also known as Andrejrusskovskij, who is celebrating his 7th year in Lomography!
Name: Andrea Russo
Year when you joined Lomography: 2010
Let's do a backtrack: How did you discover Lomography?
How did you discover Lomography? By chance, somebody was talking about their failed attempts with a Lomo camera. And I got intrigued.
What was your first Lomography camera?
A Diana Mini F+.
What's your fondest Lomography moment?
I have quite a few to be fair. However, if I really have to pick one, I’d say the exhibition Lomography Soho organized last year in London with my Petzval 85 portraits.
What does Lomography mean to you?
I guess being part of a supportive international community and the chances this gives you, such as having contacts all over the world. Which is awesome when you’re a fond traveller. Some of the members are currently good friends (I actually found my current flat in Berlin thanks to Bloomchen!).
Also the possibility to collaborate regularly with one of the most important supporters of analogue photography by testing their new products and writing for their magazine.
Could you share some of your earliest Lomography shots?
What keeps you busy now?
Work, work, work, work, work… hahah I’m kidding. I work as a vet but I came up with the conclusion that focusing 100% on this career is not a suitable option. So, I’m trying my best to invest time in travelling, taking pictures, getting to know people and live life at its best according to places, times and situations.
Who were your Lomography friends back then?
None. I really started from scratches.
What advice would you give new Lomographers?
Publish only the pics that you are really proud of and maybe ask for feedback from the Lomographers you like the most.
