Doesn’t time fly! It was over one year ago already when we launched the Daguerreotype Achromat Art Lens — one of our wildest Kickstarter projects, and one of our all round proudest achievements.
The Daguerreotype Achromat Art Lens was the revival of the the world's first ever photographic optic lens, invented in 1835 ‒ redesigned and reimagined for modern-day cameras. An ambitious idea even by our standards, we were led by our burning desire to bring back into 21st century photography the unique special effects that this historic lens produced: an aesthetic that disappeared from photography some 175 years ago. The 19th century lens was built with an ingenious achromat design which bathed the world's earliest photographs in a powerful, alluring veil of light.
The project swept us off our own feet as it took the press, our community, and the photography world by storm. We are forever grateful to you all of you who were a part of this saga, backing the project from all corners of the world — and never failing to inspire us with the stunning imagery and videography that you have been shooting with the Daguerreotype Achromat ever since.
Now, for the first time since the initial launch, the Daguerreotype Achromat is back in high spirits — with a brand new and exclusive chrome finishing: the only new edition since its release.
The sleek chrome plating makes for a classic, timeless look; and it protects your lens from wear and tear. It looks stunning on both analogue and digital cameras; its cool elegance making it the ultimate tool for shooting summer festivals, urban life, glamour, fashion, the great outdoors and so much more.
The chrome plating is designed to undergo heavy usage; built for those who can't put it down! The lens retains a beautiful vintage outlook, with a high-quality finish that is both modern and resistant to wear and tear. Get out there!
As with the black and brass editions, the Daguerreotype Achromat Art Lens has a focal length of 64 mm, apertures ranging from f/2.9 to f/16, and a Waterhouse Aperture plate system to produce deep, textured backgrounds rarely achieved in photography.
Come celebrate the new arrival with us in glittery, sparkling cheer! There are launch parties being organised by our Gallery Stores in New York, Paris, Hong Kong, and London. Join us in stores to welcome the new arrival, or purchase your Daguerreotype Achromat Chrome online today!
