Please introduce yourself to the Lomography community and the readers of the Online Magazine.

Hi! We're Specific Islander, a tropical pop band from Singapore.

What is Specific Islander's origin story?

The band formed during the haze of 2015. We were supposed to go to the beach but the PSI was at dangerous levels.

What/Who would you guys consider as the biggest influence in your music?

Dreaming of forever vacations, fruits, nature, World Music, moments of contemplation, shoegaze

What is the band's ultimate goal?

Release some albums, tour the world, make new friends all over.

Can you tell us a little more about your Lomo'Instant experience? Any interesting things you encountered or challenges?

There was quite a learning curve starting out. We had some difficulty initially getting the settings right for indoor nighttime shots. A few wasted instant films later, we switched all the settings to auto and the rest turned out perfect.

Playing with colored filters over flash and doing multiple and long exposures was cool too.

Please choose your favorite photo(s) taken with the Lomo'Instant and tell us about the images, and why they’re your favorites.

This blur long exposure pic was actually one of our favourites. It was taken at Far East Plaza, an old mall in town, in front of some neon signs. We didn't know what we were doing.

The second favorite was probably the clearest group shot of the band. My sister helped take the photo, she's very tall so the camera's vantage point is always a bit too high.

Any tips for first time shooters?

Start off shooting in daylight. Always read the instruction manual!

Any advice on how to fully utilize the Lomo'Instant?

Get the settings right, then just play around. It's perfect for spontaneous moments, instant gratification, experimentation.

Do you have ongoing or upcoming projects that you would like to tell the community about?

We're planning to release our debut album this year.
