Lomopedia: Thalassa 3.5/35 mm Art Lens

Storytelling is close to the hearts of a lot of Lomographers in our community and it’s with good reason. Narration through photographs is a powerful thing. The first lens in the Neptune Convertible Art Lens System is the Thalassa 3.5/35 mm Art Lens and it’s a great choice for environmental portraits, architectural, and urban photography.

The Thalassa Art Lens is inspired by one of Neptune’s moons of the same name. It has an f/3.5 aperture that works well in low-light conditions. It also has a 35 mm focal length that can fill up the frame easily with its fairly wide angle. The 35 mm focal length is a great choice since it can depict motion and focus on stillness at the same time. It attaches smoothly with the Neptune Convertible Art Lens System rear element. The whole art lens system is compatible with a host of cameras using the Canon EF, Nikon F, and Pentax K mounts.

The Thalassa can capture subjects and their environment well. Its focal length invites users to come closer to their subject for a more engaged shoot. This results in a more active shooting experience -- one that is needed especially when shooting street snaps on the go. Its small form factor also allows users to discreetly photograph moments that are otherwise lost when shooting with bigger and bulkier lenses.
